Wood Welding Series

She draws a metaphor between welding, the act of melting metal to fuse materials, and her process with wood. By charring wood, a material vulnerable to heat, she creates a visual and conceptual impression of welding without physically joining the materials.

In the Wood Welding Series, traces of metal welding are applied directly to wood, forming bead-like shapes that echo the aesthetics of welded metal. By translating the language of metal into wood, she evokes a paradoxical relationship between the two materials, emphasizing dissonance, tension, and unfamiliarity.

Through this approach, she explores contradictions and offers a renewed perspective on materiality.

These photographs highlight the material contradiction through the side profiles of the wood chair and the metal chair.
