Wood Welding Chair and Stool
For the opening of the SVRN San Francisco store, Wood Welding Chair & Stool was included in the exhibition upon the recommendation of the curation group POC.
The space was designed by the Seoul-based architectural studio WGNB, reflecting both SVRN’s brand identity and the local landscape of San Francisco.
Wood Welding Chair & Stool applies the concept of metal welding to wood. By charring the wood, I artificially fuse different materials and reveal the resulting dissonance and tension. The rigid and linear forms of my work contrast with the flexible and curved design of the space by WGNB, creating a unique balance within the environment.
This Project goes beyond furniture or objects, proposing the possibility of “furniture as a work” and, more broadly, “art” within a platform centered on fashion. My work is positioned as part of this ongoing conversation.
