Seared Dance Series
The Seared Dance Series is a body of work that draws a metaphor between the primal phenomenon of fire and the feeling of liberation, expressed through dance. By burning materials such as matches or cotton to create scorch marks, and transferring these onto wood, I visualize the traces of fire.
Since this work relies on the unpredictability of fire, each interaction with the same materials and methods produces completely different images. This represents a continuous, instinctive, and free act in which a unique form emerges even within repetition.
For the artist, every action using fire is akin to a dance that flows naturally, and it is within the rhythm of this dance that the artist exists.
